    Mormor havde ikke andre søskende end broderen: Thomas Peter Lauridsen Spliid 7.3.1843-21.8.1915. Han blev ejer af Skovgaard, Skovshoved ved Hals, og flyttede senere til Hals, hvor han i en årrække var sognefoged. Han blev i 1871 gift med Ane Johanne Jensine Knudsdatter Toft 22.3.1847-5.8.1928 ædste søster til førnævnte Elisabeth Toft, gift med farfars bror Knud Christian Eriksen - til Jens Justesen Toft, gift med farmors niece Jensine Marie Jensen - og til Inger Laurette Toft, gift med farmors bror Jens Berthel Ottosen.

    Selvom Thomas med sin kone og deres børn - som altså har været min mors fætre og kusiner - boede nær ved V.Hassing, mener jeg ikke, at man i mit barndomshjem havde noget samvær med dem. Flere af børnene udvandrede altså ogsa til Amerika, og min mor havde måske heller ikke opretholdt forbindelsen med sin morbror efter sin mors tidlige død. Jeg er faktisk først nu kommet pa sporet af Thomas og hans familie – på samme made som jeg først nu er kommet pa sporet af min farfars søskende og deres børn.

    Grandmother had no other siblings than her brother, Thomas Peter Lauridsen Spliid 7.3.1843-21.8.1915. He became the owner of Skovgaard, Skovshoved at Hals, and later moved to the Hals, where he spent a number of years as Mayor. He was married in 1871 to Ane Johanne Jensine Knudsdatter Toft 22.3.1847-5.8.1928 eldest sister to the aforementioned Elisabeth Toft, wife of grandfather's brother Knud Christian Eriksen - Jens Justesen Toft, married to grandmother's niece Jensine Marie Jensen - and Inger Laurette Toft, married to grandmother's brother Jens Berthel Ottosen.

    Although Thomas with his wife and their children - who all have been my mother's cousins - lived near V.Hassing, I do not think that in my childhood home we ever had contact with them. Several of the children emigrated to America, and my mother had perhaps not maintained the connection with her uncle after his mother's untime death. I'm actually only just made contact with Thomas and his family - in the same way as I only just got made contact with my grandfather's siblings and their children.

    Thomas married Ane Johanne Jensine Knudsdatter Toft in 1871. Ane was born on 22 Mar 1847; died on 05 Aug 1928. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
