The date of the marriage is unknown. Mrs. Pennishon adopted an indian girl - her sister's daughter who, after that, bore the name Susan Pennishon. [page 89, Her name, Istagimin means brown eyes] The last of the "Brown Eyes" of whom I shall speak later, she was also known as "Gray Huckleberry Woman". Since she was a descendant of Opechancanough, the blood of Eastern Algonquains and of the Ojibways mingled in her veins with that of the savage Sioux. She married Duuncan Graham, my Grandfather, another early-day trader, whose life I shall next describe.

Note: Susanne was not the biological daughter of Jean Pennishon, as stated above she was the daughter of the sister of Mrs. Pennishon (who was the daughter of Wapasha I) and therefore we must assume that she was 100% Indian blood. wlf Nov 2008; Gra-BK2, section 2, p 88, GRA-BK2, Section 2.

These bodies had to be moved. That winter sixty teams and sleighs removed the bodies and brought them to Faribault, Minn., where Alexander Faribault has a temporary vault excavated to the bodies until spring for burial in the ground he donated for a cemetery, now known as Calvary Cemetery.
