Notes from Robert Oliver Fuller Bixby; Fuller Genealogy, p. 4:
There is a chart said to have been copied in 1893 by Robert Oliver Fuller, Sr. from a bible of Mary Learned (Abigail?), owned by Henry O. Fuller (presumably the son of Christopher Grant Fuller), which shows Oliver's place of birth as Newton. Also, Newton is listed as his place of birth on the death certificate of his son, Christopher. However, the death certificate of his daughter Mary Fuller Sprague lists Oliver's place of birth as Cambridge. A research report prepared at my request by the Research staff of the New England Historic Geological Society states 'Because of Oliver's association with Watertown and Cambridge, it is fair to assume that he is somehow connected to the family of John Fuller who settled in Cambridge Village (Newton) by 1644 and died there 7 February, 1697/8'. This John Fuller had a number of male descendants living in that area at the time Oliver was born, including one named Oliver who has been conclusively proven not to be the one who is the subject of this paper. To date, although many have tried over several years, we have not been able to find the parents of Oliver Fuller. In the Boston Directories for 1800 and 1803, Oliver is listed as a tallow chandler on Washington Street. There is also an Asa Fuller listed as a tallow chandler at 6 Green's wharf.

Our research has not established the names of the parents of Oliver Fuller Sr., however we have concluded that he had an unregistered birth and was the son of Joseph and Mindwell (Stone) Fuller:
      A. Facts
      1. The YDNA of a direct male descendant of Oliver matches several other known direct male descendants of John Fuller of Newton and therefore we know that Oliver’s father was a descendant of John Fuller of Newton.
      2. We do not have his birth date but the Vital Records of Cambridge show that Oliver died June 7, 1806 aged 38, so we have calculated his birth date to be 1767/8.
      3. Oliver died intestate (without a will), however the administrative Probate Records from Middlesex, Massachusetts, USA (1806, case 8784) show that Oliver was a tallow chandler by profession and that his wife, at the time of his death in 1806 was Abigail Learned Fuller.
      4. The 1882 death record for Oliver's son, Christopher of Salem, shows his parents as Oliver and Abigail born Newton and Cambridge respectfully.
      B. Factors
      1. The Joseph Fuller family may have followed the Baptist Church philosophy that only believers can be baptised (no infant baptisms) as most of their known children have unrecorded birth dates. Their known children were: Asa b. 1757 (Town Record); Lois 1758 (Town Record); Susannah 1760 (Church ecord); Nabby 1765 (Church Record); Mindwell (Town note "? after ch. b. July 14, 1765").
      2. Joseph’s son Asa Fuller b. 1757, is listed as a “Victualler [licenses shop owner] Tallow chandler Merchant” in the Twing Collection of inhabitants of Boston 1630-1822, which showed his wife (Elizabeth) and children (1793 John, 1794 Elizabeth, 1798 Fanny).
      3. “Oliver Fuller” is listed as a Tallow Chandler (store up) on Washington Street, So[uth] Side in Boston [value 400] on an 1800 Tax listing. Asa Fuller is listed on the same tax listing as having a candle manufactory [factory] [value 2500], with a note - "improved by O. Fuller".
      4. Joseph Fuller died in 1807 without a Will and the Middlesex Probate Records, (of 1807, case 8761) lists the Heirs by Law as his wife and four daughters and an unknown witness "Anna Fuller". This list does not include Asa, who was living in Vermont in 1807, nor does it include Oliver, who (unfortunately) died in 1806 or a representative of either, unless Anna Fuller represented one of the them. The administrator and Judge of the probate may have considered the descendants of both men to be adequately provided for in their current situation.
In 1768, Joseph was 41 years old and his wife Midwell Stone was 37 years old and there is a space for another child in 1768.
