John Caudle ran away from his brothers dairy farm in Troy NY after his mother passed away. He had a friend, same age by the name of Harry Palmer. John was trying to get on with the Mayo Brothers Clinic in Rochester, MN but he needed to have a birth certificate. Harry Palmer said " use mine, I'm going up to Canada anyway." This was when you could still cross over the border no questions asked. John did get hired at the Mayo Clinic and from then on he was known as Harry R Palmer.
