[S43] Obituary, Wabasha Herald, (11 April 1901), Obit: “Mrs. Jennie Cratte, widow of the late Oliver Cratte, died at her home in this city at 5 o'clock Friday [April 5, 1901] afternoon and was buried from St. Felix church Monday morning. Father Wurst officiating. Mrs. Cratte's maiden name was Jennie Campbell. She was born at Mendota in this state in 1825. In 1861 she was united in marriage to Oliver Cratte, being his third wife. Fourteen children were born to her, seven of whom survive her. She knew more of the early life of Wabasha County than any person living here in recent years. She had been here when Wabasha was but an Indian trading post and no white families lived here but those engaged in trading with the Indians. The beautiful prairie land now selling as high as $75.00 per acre was then an Indian reservation and not a foot of its fertile soil had ever been turned to the sun.       *Note: [this is likely an error as Duncan Campbell was almost certainly from Scotland and therefore 100% white - which makes sence if Jenny was half blood]; Gra-Crat, page 1-63, 64a, Various Family Books.
